Best of Salem County Contest 2009

The winners for the Best of Salem County Contest 2009 have been announced.

SALEM — The voting is over, the ballots have been tallied and the list of winners is now complete in the 2009 Best of Salem County Contest.

The annual contest allows county residents to vote for their favorite local businesses. Votes could be cast in 93 different categories.

The contest is sponsored by the Salem County Board of Chosen Freeholders, the Salem County Chamber of Commerce and Today’s Sunbeam.

“Every business in Salem County contributes to what makes our county a wonderful place,” said Freeholder Director Lee Ware. “The Best  of Salem County  is a great opportunity to highlight those businesses that have made a positive impact on their customers.”

As in the past, thousands of ballots were cast this year. The results were tabulated by the county Administration Department to determine the winners.

“The chamber is always proud to be  part of this because of what it means to small businesses in Salem County,” said Jennifer Jones, executive director of the Salem County Chamber of Commerce. “We know it has been a tough year for a lot  of businesses and we know this is a nice way to recognize them and let them know their efforts are appreciated.”

“We are pleased to be part of this annual event which showcases the best local businesses here in Salem County,” said Ceil Smith, publisher of Today’s Sunbeam. “These businesses are the lifeblood of our economy and it’s important that they be recognized not only for their service, but their contributions to our community.”

The winners will be recognized at a special dinner on Thursday, Oct. 29, at the Centerton Country Club, Pittsgrove Township. The evening begins with cocktails at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner and the awards program starting at 6:15 p.m.
