SALEM COUNTY - With all the talk of late about promoting tourism in Salem County, a local web design company decided to do just that. DiscoverSalemCounty.com, a grassroots website courtesy of Websketching.com, was recently launched and has created quite a buzz in the community – especially among local artists.
Already ranked high in Google for many searches such as “Salem County artists” and “artists in Salem County”, DiscoverSalemCounty.com features the works of local artists Alex Alampi, Jr. of The Studio of Fine Art and Lori Levin of Soulful Studios. Both Alampi and Levin have donated artwork to be awarded as sweepstakes prizes. “Delaware Bay Lighthouses” is a series of lithographs signed and numbered by artist Alex Alampi; “Salem County Residents” is a series of giclees signed by artist Lori Levin. Visitors can enter each sweepstakes each day and winners are chosen monthly. The first drawing will be held on July 1st.
“I am confident that DiscoverSalemCounty.com is going to help generate interest in our area and to help promote our local artists,” said Alampi, “I am very excited to be a part of this effort and encourage other local artists to participate as well.”
“We saw a need for a website designed to promote Salem County to both visitors and residents, so we decided to fill that need.” said Christine DeGraff of Websketching. “At this point, we are in “phase 1” of our plans for DiscoverSalemCounty.com, which is to gather information about the history of each town and to promote local attractions, artists and events in the area. Our goal is to help in the efforts to attract “day trippers” to the Salem County area and to expand upon the “save gas - shop local” concept that we developed for the Woodstown-Pilesgrove Business Association by encouraging local residents to “discover” Salem County as well.”
“It is our hope that the businesses, residents and communities of Salem County will embrace and support our efforts to promote the Salem County area. At this time, we are seeking help from local photographers who would be willing to contribute photos of the area and we are asking the webmasters for each town, organization or business to link to the website to help us spread the word. Finally, we would like to encourage the public to email us with information about upcoming events, local news and other items of interest as well as to provide us with their feedback and suggestions.”
